Flashback is a history app built for curiosity. This policy explains what data we collect — and the short answer is: none.
We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. Flashback has no user accounts, no sign-in, and no backend server. Everything the app needs is stored locally on your device.
If you grant notification permission, Flashback schedules a daily local notification at 7 PM. This is handled entirely by iOS on your device. No notification data is sent to us or any third party.
Card images are loaded from Wikipedia’s public servers (Wikimedia). This is a standard outbound request from your device to a public URL — no personal information is included. We do not control Wikimedia’s servers. You can review their privacy policy at foundation.wikimedia.org.
Flashback stores two things locally on your device using iOS standard storage: which cards you have recently seen (to avoid repeats), and whether you have completed onboarding. This data never leaves your device and is deleted if you uninstall the app.
Flashback uses the following third-party services: Firebase Analytics (Google) — collects anonymous usage data such as which cards are viewed and how the app is used. This data is anonymous and cannot be used to identify you personally. Google AdMob — displays ads within the app. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve relevant ads. This data is handled by Google in accordance with their privacy policy. No data is sold or shared with third parties beyond what is required for ad serving. Flashback does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.
If this policy changes in a meaningful way — for example if analytics or ads are added in a future version — this page will be updated and the “last updated” date will reflect that.
