Purlwise is a row counter and pattern tracker for knitting and crochet. There is no account, no sign-in and no server that stores your projects or patterns. Your projects, counters, patterns and settings stay on your device. The only data we collect is anonymous usage analytics, described in section 5.
Projects, counters, notes, timers and the patterns you import are stored locally on your device. They are kept in storage shared only between the Purlwise app and its own widgets, so that the Lock Screen counter and Home Screen widget can show and update your count. We do not receive this information, and Purlwise does not upload or sync it anywhere.
When you export a backup, Purlwise creates a file containing your projects and saves or shares it wherever you choose, for example Files, iCloud Drive, AirDrop or email. Once it leaves the app, that file is handled by the service you chose, under its own privacy terms. We never receive it.
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used and to improve it. It collects events such as screens viewed, features used (for example, counting rows, starting the Lock Screen counter or opening the paywall), answers you choose during onboarding (your craft, skill level and goal), the number of projects you have, purchase outcomes, app version, device model, operating system version, approximate region, and a random app-instance identifier generated for the app installation.
We do not sell your data. The only third parties involved are Apple (purchases, App Store, Live Activities and widgets) and Google (analytics, as described above).
Purlwise is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Projects, patterns and settings are stored on your device and are deleted when you delete the app. Backup files you exported are kept wherever you saved them until you delete them. Analytics data is retained by Google Analytics according to the retention settings we choose, which are limited in time. Because analytics data is not linked to your identity, we cannot look up or delete data for a specific person. Deleting the app stops further collection from that installation.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information. Because Purlwise does not collect personal information that identifies you, there is generally nothing for us to access or delete, but you can contact us at any time with questions or requests.
Your projects are stored in the app’s private storage on your device and are protected by iOS. Backup files you export are not encrypted by Purlwise, so keep them somewhere you trust. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
We may update this policy. The effective date above shows when it was last changed. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
